Count this month's Dripping Springs events by address and one location comes up again and again: 1042 Event Center Drive. Dripping Springs Ranch Park had its Family Fall Fest on Oct. 3. It hosts the Hill Country Harvest Market the weekend of Oct. 10–11, a haunted hayride on Oct. 16 and a community ofrenda on Oct. 17. Historic downtown gets one big weekend, the Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival on Oct. 16–18.
The Songwriters Festival lands on the same Friday and Saturday as two Ranch Park events. For two days, the town runs two event hubs a few minutes apart, and planning those days means deciding which one gets your afternoon and which one gets your evening.
The October calendar, sorted by where it happens
Lists that sort events by date make this month look scattered. Sorted by location, the pattern is easier to see.
| Where | What | When | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ranch Park, 1042 Event Center Dr. | Family Fall Fest | Oct. 3, 2–5 p.m. | $5 |
| Ranch Park | Hill Country Harvest Market | Oct. 10, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; Oct. 11, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. | $6, or $5 with a canned good; free for kids 12 and under |
| Ranch Park and Charro Ranch Park | Festival of Flight bird walks | Oct. 10, 7:30–9:30 a.m. | Free |
| Ranch Park | Dead by Dawn haunted hayride and house | Oct. 16, 7:30–10 p.m. | See city listing |
| Ranch Park | Día de los Muertos Community Ofrenda | Oct. 17, 8 a.m.–7 p.m. | See city listing |
| Historic downtown, Mercer St. and Old Fitzhugh Rd. | Dripping Springs Songwriters Festival | Oct. 16–18 | Free downtown shows |
| 419 Founders Park Rd. | Festival of Flight festival | Oct. 10, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. | Free |
| 12 Fox Beer, 4700 W. Fitzhugh Rd. | Corks + Caps Wine/Beer Festival & 5K | Oct. 10, 8 a.m. | $45 race registration |
Ranch Park shows up five times and downtown once. Downtown's single entry fills three days and 70 shows, though, so it takes up more of the month than one row suggests.
Saturday, Oct. 10 puts a lot into one morning
The first weekend shows how Ranch Park handles back-to-back events. The Festival of Flight marks World Migration Day with guided bird walks from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Charro Ranch Park, 22690 FM 150, and at Ranch Park. A community bird count follows, then a festival with vendors, activities and crafts from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 419 Founders Park Road. The city keeps the details at its Festival of Flight page.
On the same grounds that morning, the 14th annual Hill Country Harvest Market opens at 10 a.m., with clothing, jewelry, gifts, home decor and skincare vendors. The city's listing also mentions holiday décor and food. If you join the early bird walk at Ranch Park, the market opens about half an hour after it ends, a short walk away. Bringing a canned good takes a dollar off admission.
Across town, Corks + Caps starts at 8 a.m. at veteran-owned 12 Fox Beer Co. on West Fitzhugh Road. It pairs a 5K with coffee, craft beer, a vendor market and live music for Texas Wine Month. 12 Fox is donating part of its merchandise sales to Fireside Chat Support Network, a nonprofit that supports veterans, active-duty military, first responders and their families.
Oct. 16 to 18, when both hubs run at once
The 12th annual Songwriters Festival puts 40-plus songwriters on seven stages for 70 shows, all in the Nashville-style "in the round" format, where performers trade songs in turns. Every downtown show is free. Destination Dripping Springs lists the festival at Mercer Street and Old Fitzhugh Road. Its official songwriter selections include Brian Allison, Charlie Argo, Emily Barnes, Katrina Cain, Kelsi Creek, George Ensle, Lauren Frihauf, Goldpine, Sara Jean Kelley, Madeleine Kelson, Rachel Laven and Will Overman.
Destination Dripping Springs hasn't published the full list of 2026 stage venues yet, or a 2026 parking map. Check the festival page before you head downtown. Hudson's on Mercer has confirmed extended hours with free music on Oct. 16 and 17.
Here's how the overlap plays out day by day:
- Friday, Oct. 16. Downtown showcases run from 1:30 to 8 p.m. Dead by Dawn opens at Ranch Park at 7:30 p.m. and runs until 10, with proceeds going to Burke Center for Youth. That leaves about 30 minutes when both are going. Out on Nutty Brown Road, Pickleball Pit Stop holds a Community Oktoberfest with indoor pickleball from 5 to 9 p.m. at $5 per two-hour session, plus live music from 6 to 8. Reserving a court ahead of time is recommended.
- Saturday, Oct. 17. The 4th Annual Día de los Muertos Community Ofrenda is up at Ranch Park from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The festival runs from noon to 8 p.m. downtown. A morning at the ofrenda and an afternoon on Mercer Street fit together with no conflict.
- Sunday, Oct. 18. Downtown gets the day to itself, with showcases from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The day after the festival, Monday, Oct. 19, Dripping Springs Sports Club opens Warehouse II, a second indoor-court building next to the original Warehouse at 15113 Fitzhugh Road, Bldg. 400. The first Warehouse opened in April.
What changed between festivals
A few spots that may come up on a festival-weekend drive have changed since last fall.
- Oakwood Public Market, 2500 Beverly Drive. The previous operators shut down in July. New owners Sarah and Dallas Miller reopened it in September with the existing concepts plus a new arcade.
- 2250 E. Hwy. 290. Deep Eddy Vodka closed its Dripping Springs tasting room on June 13 after more than a decade. Goodnight Loving Vodka took over the distillery and tasting room on Aug. 1. Its latest update says a public opening date and tasting-room hours are still coming, so it isn't open to visitors yet.
- RR 12 morning stops. The Iron Grind food truck opened Aug. 7 at Fairlane Cocktails and Coffee, 29035 RR 12, where locals Erik and Christin Turcotte are serving smash burgers, wings and fries. Ziggi's Cafe, a Greek spot serving pitas, pies and other baked goods, opened in August at 28485 RR 12.
- Hwy. 290 and Canyonwood Drive. Tacodeli has signed a lease at this intersection, and the opening date hasn't been set. Dripping Springs Sports Club plans its flagship for the same corner, at the front of the Headwaters subdivision. It's expected in 2028 with a wellness and recovery center, a cafe and childcare.
Past Dripping Springs, through Nov. 1
The Driftwood Fall Festival runs through Nov. 1 on Vista Brewing's 21-acre ranch in Driftwood. Bad weather pushed its opening back to Oct. 7. Also at Vista Brewing, 13551 RM Road 150, Rooted Treasures Succulents runs a DIY succulent pumpkin workshop on Oct. 10, with sessions at 11 a.m. and noon for $38.
At Better Broker, Texas Realty, we follow what opens, closes and changes hands along 290, RR 12 and Mercer Street, because it shapes everyday life here. If you have a question about a storefront you've passed, or about a part of Dripping Springs you're thinking of moving to, send it our way and we'll tell you what we know.
