A native of Austin, Texas, and a graduate of Westwood High in Northwest Austin, Matt has witnessed Austin blossom from a hidden gem to one of the fastest-growing cities in America. Matt Prewett began his Real Estate career in November 2004 with Hindsite 20/20 Real Estate, a boutique Austin Real Estate firm, where he learned to build a referral-based business through his sphere of influence. After 7 years at Hindsite, Matt was recruited to Realty Austin and started the Prewett Team in February 2012 by hiring his first full-time team member, Melissa Osborne, to assist with Client Relations and Transaction Management. When Matt departed Realty Austin in 2015 to open his own brokerage, Melissa joined in the new venture and has grown into the role of Operations Manager as the Brokerage has grown. A licensed Real Estate Agent, Melissa still practices as an agent primarily in her home territory of Kyle, Buda, South Austin, San Marcos, and Wimberley. She has worked in the Real Estate business since 2001, including positions as a Transaction Coordinator at local brokerages and an Escrow Assistant at Independence Title Company. Matt and Melissa share a combined 40+ years of experience in the Real Estate industry in the Austin and Central Texas areas.
Matt has built his business and database of clientele with a referral-based business philosophy that emphasizes his core philosophies of continuous personal growth, setting, meeting, and exceeding expectations; and the desire to establish long-term relationships with his clients in order to be a resource for life, not just one transaction. With an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Accounting, both from Rhodes College, Matt’s educational background, and specifically his financial and analytical skills, allow him to excel with investors in addition to owner-occupants. Matt's professional accomplishments include the attainment of a Texas Real Estate Broker's license, a license held by less than 1% of Real Estate Agents because of the education, training, and experience required. He is consistently a Top Producing Agent in the Central Texas area, achieving sales volume in the Top 5% of licensees annually, and has closed well over 1000 transactions in his career. He attributes his success, in part, to the extensive network of relationships that he has developed through his multiple involvements, creative marketing strategies, savvy negotiating skills, broad geographic knowledge, and his commitment to hard work, excellent customer service, and an enjoyable experience for every client. Having grown up in Austin, Matt has a deep understanding of the market areas and neighborhoods, including Northwest Austin, where he grew up, Central Austin, where he lived for five years, and Southwest Austin, where he currently resides.
Matt began honing his leadership skills in college, where he served as a two-year Captain of the Rhodes College soccer team and a member and pledge trainer of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. From 2004-2017, Matt served as Head Coach of the University of Texas Men’s Soccer Club and holds a USSF ‘A’ National Coaching License, the highest soccer coaching license issued through the United States Soccer Federation. Still heavily involved in the soccer community in Austin, he recently completed his second term as President of the Austin Men’s Soccer Association, the largest amateur adult soccer league in Austin with over 3500 player-members, and is now serving as Treasurer in order to stay involved with the league. As for other philanthropic involvements, Matt serves as Chairman for the UT Soccer Alumni Association, and also serves on the Board of the Austin Soccer Foundation, which supports grassroots soccer opportunities in Central Texas through scholarships, field development, and player and referee development. He also serves as Property Team Elder at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, where he's able to put his handyman skills to good use.
Matt understands that the purchase of a property is one of the largest single purchases that most people make in their lifetime. He enjoys advising clients on their investment decisions and guiding clients to help achieve their goals, whether it be buying their dream home, buying and selling land, investing in rental properties for short-term cash flows and/or long-term appreciation, or considering options for 2nd homes (vacation homes and lake houses). In fact, Matt also owns a Real Estate investment company which holds a portfolio of rental properties, so he practices what he preaches!
Matt and his wife Adrienne, reside in Southwest Austin with their three daughters. In addition to his involvement in the soccer community, Matt enjoys watching and coaching his daughters in their athletic involvements, and pursues outdoor adventures, including hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, boating, watching sports, and working out. He also enjoys exploring Austin’s abundant restaurants and breweries whenever possible.
